2026 is a big year for not only the United States but also the U.S. Mint. Celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the country’s founding, the Mint will be releasing new circulating coinage, as well as a variety of different issues to commemorate the event, including reimagined classics.

Within the first month of the new year, the Mint will be releasing rolls and bags of the Iowa American Innovation Dollar, which honors Dr. Norman Borlaug. In addition, rolls and bags of the 2026 Native American dollar will also be released.
Looking ahead, throughout the year, artful interpretations of classic coins will be released as silver companion medals, from the 1907 Double Eagle to the 1916 Mercury Dime.

In 2025, there was a lot of controversy around the Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program. Despite the hesitancy shown by many seasoned coin collectors, the series did quite well. In 2026, the next three editions will be released, featuring Supergirl, Robin, and Green Lantern. The Mint has also already announced the 2027 editions: The Flash, Batgirl, and Aquaman.

An exciting year to look forward to, and many more numismatic treasures to collect.
