SINCONA Offers Rare Persian Coins
SINCONA offered the first part of the Kian Collection in October 2023.
More than 100 Persian coins are being offered in a May auction featuring the second part of the Kian Collection, presented by SINCONA. Covering hammered Persian coins from the 16th through 19th centuries from the nation today known as Iran, SINCONA Auction 88 is open for bidding, which continues through May 13, 2024.
A top highlight is an Iran AH1232(1817) Kirmanshahan 5 Toman graded NGC AU Details (lot 165), with a starting price of CHF45,000 (about $50,000). It was struck during the reign of Fath-Ali Shah Qajar (1797-1834), who is notable for having more than 100 children and succeeding his uncle, the founder of the Qajar dynasty. It is the only one in the NGC Census, and it is, according to the auction house, the only known example.
