Dragonflies Flit Across Coin Design
A summer day beside the water, watching the dragonflies flit about, zigzagging through the air, is a serene scene many are familiar with, and now it could be joining your coin collection.
The Royal Canadian Mint has released a new coin featuring a dragonfly flying around a water lily. The 2024 coin is 3D; not only is the lily coming out of the coin, but the dragonfly can move around the flower with the tilt of the coin.
The silver coin is large, with a diameter of 65.25 mm, but its size immerses the viewer in the scene. A crystal is embedded in the center of the bloom, shining like a droplet of water. The dragonfly and lily are sterling silver with gold plating as if the golden sun is reflecting off them on a bright summer day. The coin's mirror-like surface, which reflects the dragonfly flying above it, adds to its charm.
The mintage is limited, only 1,250 coins, so this snippet of summer will go fast. The 50-dollar coin comes in a package with a wooden base and a clear dome cover, allowing you to display and interact with your coin.
