U.S. Mint gets one COTY chance
The U.S. Mint has just one nominee in the race for the Coin of the Year Award to be given Feb. 2, 2013, at the World Money Fair in Berlin, Germany. Flying the flag for the USA is the Olympic National Park quarter of 2011, which was nominated in the Most Popular coin category.
Krause Publications Announces Coin of the Year Nominees
Krause Publications, a leading producer of coin and paper money books, magazines, events and online products, has announced the nominees for the 2012 Coin of the Year awards. Each year, the awards honor the best in coin design and manufacturing from around the world. The awards will be presented during a ceremony taking place at the World Money Fair in Berlin, Germany during first weekend of February 2012.
Israel receives COTY award
It was a great day for the Bank of Israel as Mordechai Fein, head of its currency department, accepted the 29th Coin of the Year Award at a Feb. 4 ceremony at the World Money Fair in Berlin.
