After 20 years, the European Central Bank is preparing a new bank note series based on two possible themes: European culture or rivers and birds. A collection of design proposals is currently being reviewed by a panel of experts serving on the Design Content Jury. Those that make it to the final stage will be voted on by a public survey, and the final product will be announced by the end of 2026.
Switzerland
A winner has been announced in the Swiss National Bank’s competition for the country's new bank note designs after a nationwide survey: Concept J by Emphase Ltd. Under the direction of Fabienne Kilchör and Sébastien Fasel, the theme evokes “Switzerland and its altitudes” with illustrations of Swiss native plants, insects, and architecture. The series will be released at the beginning of 2030.
