Poll Question: Do you think the Mint should add the olive branch to the 2026 dime reverse design? Why or why not?
From the March 20, 2026, Numismatic News e-Newsletter, readers debated the olive branch on the 2026 dime, balancing tradition, design concerns, and national symbolism.
Yes, the olive branch is a must with the arrows. It shows the world who we are and represent.

The coin designs are set. It is too late to consider changes, so the question is moot. What is still a valid question is the mint pricing compared to last year. The P D mint set and non-silver proof set should be offered at the same price as last year. That the mint is jacking the price 300 percent is unjustified. There is no precious medal in these sets.
I've been buying the annual sets since the 1980s. I was looking forward to the new semi-Q designs, but I'm not stupid. I will get them at face value from my bank and never buy a single product directly from the mint again.

Leave it off until the warmonger Trump is out of office. Until then, we are obviously not looking for peace...
Hitler didn't use olive branches.
We would be misrepresenting our intent to the world. We want all of the oil, and we will continue to illegally crush anybody who gets in the way of making the orange child rapist richer. And Americans forget who Epstein is.

Yes, I feel the olive branch should be included in the design. I understand we fought the monarchy for our freedom; however, we did not go seeking war. Our split from England was a last resort when peace efforts failed, and as this time represents the United States, not only to its citizens, but to the world, we should always show a balance between peace and war, with peace being the preference.

Yes, the olive branch must be there. Without the olive, we look like war mongers.

I do not think that the mint should add an olive branch to the reverse of the 2026 design of the dime. I think that it would throw everything off balance and be too "crowded".

Of course, return the olive branch. The peace through strength image tells all that this nation aspires to lead nations by peaceful means, but we’re prepared to use military might when needed, and only when needed. Leading only with military might unnecessarily puts everyone at risk as a first step.

Absolutely, an olive branch should be included. We have always been a country of peace but also of strength. To only show arrows in the talons of the eagle indicates we are nothing more than purveyors of war.

Yes, it should be added because that is who we, the USA, are. Just because our current president does not conform to the way we have always been does not mean we should change. We just have to wait for him to be out of office and go back to the way we should behave as in the past.

It is too late now to add to the coin. Coins are already selling on eBay for $70 to 90 for one roll. Second, I haven't seen any 2026 coins in my pocket change. Ask for them at my bank, no one has them. So why worry about adding an olive branch to the dime now?

NO, we are at WAR.

I think the olive branch should be added because it shows that the USA would prefer a peaceful resolution to conflicts.

Yes, that way, we’ll have two varieties and make them more Valuable. For sure for sure.

Yes, because tradition has dictated for both the olives & the arrows to be together, by reason of the olives representing peace & the arrows representing war preparedness (emphasizing a balance between peace & war).

Absolutely no olive branch! We are at war against King George III. We need arrows: muskets, cannon, ball, and powder. Brave men to fight for Liberty 🗽

Our coinage throughout our history has always been about more than just the face value of the circulating coin. It’s been about what we represent to the world (freedom, E Pluribus Unum, from many into one, our belief in god), but other things as well. I always thought the eagle represented two things. War or peace, basically, the arrows showed we were ready for war if necessary, but the olive branch was showing that we prefer peace to war. In the current times, with what we have that passes for a president, it’s more important than ever for the olive branches to be on our circulating coinage to show the rest of the world what we truly value.
Trump values only war, hence the change from the Department of Defense to the Department of War. Since 1947, it’s been the Department of Defense and it has worked pretty well for the last 79 years.
If Trump had his way, his portrait would be on every circulating coin and all our currency as well.
It is so much more important now than ever before to show the rest of the world that the majority of Americans are appalled by Trump and his fascist policies. We believe in democracy and the Constitution. Trump clearly does not.
So I say keep the olive branches on the dime’s reverse

No. The colonial states had enough of British rule. They declared war. Peace was no longer an option.

I like its message but tradition is important.
