Poll Question: Have you found any SemiQ coins in circulation yet? Have you been looking for them?

From the May 1, 2026, Numismatic News e-Newsletter, readers expressed growing frustration that America’s semiquincentennial circulation coins remain largely absent from everyday change.

I have not seen any of these circulated coins. It seems like the only place you can find them is with select dealers who will gladly sell you some of the circulation strike coins for many, many times their face value. There is something very wrong with this picture! These coins in change (like the bicentennial coins) may create many new collectors, but most non-collectors will not pay highway robbery prices to get an example of each coin. Where the heck are these coins in circulation, like they are supposed to be? This is another reason why many no longer collect coins.

Are you kidding? Haven’t seen a single coin in change or at the banks. Beginning to believe the monster online dealers are getting all of them. Totally different from the statehood quarters years ago. I don’t like the way the U.S. Mint is handling the rollout of this series.

I check my change with every transaction. I have not found one. So this past week, I went and ordered them from a few companies. Seems the pricing war has started for them to unload from inventory. Still looking...

None whatsoever.

Not yet. But been getting a lot of older coins in change. My bank and a few others are not ordering coins. Because of the pennies, everyone is cashing in tons of pennies with all these other coins. So, no new coins yet. The only place I’ve seen them is on eBay, at coin shows, and from dealers. The coin shop I go to a lot is also looking. For rolls, if I find any.

I’ve been looking for them and asking banks around if they have any. Have purchased some from the mint and eBay.

JP, Lebanon, Ind.

Have not found any semiq coins in circulation yet, but I have been looking and searching rolls. I guess that we may never find any, hard to say.

Dave Burdis, Charleroi, Pa.

No, nothing. Have asked my bank twice, and they do not have any 2026 commemorative coins. Very disappointed in the Mint distribution system. So I have to buy from the Mint and eBay.

Haven’t found any in circulation and probably won’t.

As of May 1, 2026, I have not found any circulating 250th Anniversary coins in circulation and, in fact, do not anticipate seeing any in circulation for some time. New coins for circulation just do not arrive in my area for about a year after they are minted. I have to either purchase them from dealers or, hopefully, acquire some rolls from the U.S. Mint. Almost all the banks in my area never make requests to the Federal Reserve to order new coins, and when they do order, they end up receiving a lot of circulated material, both coins and bank notes.

Haven't found any yet...I think big coin dealers and others are grabbing them as quickly as possible for investment...I don't have the half dollar slabbed because it looks like the majority aren't grading very high...MS 65's are rather low but still affordable. Time will tell...the picture could change quickly.

Yes, I found the Mayflower Compact quarter two weeks ago. Just that one, so far. I do look.

Nope, haven’t seen a single coin and totally unable to purchase from the mint! Bummer.

I have been searching since the dates for release were published. No luck yet. When the dimes were released by the mint, I was on their website two minutes after release (12 noon). I was immediately placed on a web waitlist and was told I had approximately three minutes till I could get to the website and 10 minutes to complete my transaction.
The time then shifted to 15 minutes, 20 minutes, and so on, before I was just kicked off with the coins, no longer available. Two days later, Liton, ICC, and national mint collectors were selling the same coins for 3 to 5 dollars apiece. When I went to purchase the Mayflower quarter from the mint, repeat of the same thing. This time, I was offered the opportunity to be notified when they were going to be re-released.

At the re-release for the Mayflower Quarter, I was able to purchase 100 coins from the Philadelphia and Denver mints; however, the rolls were not available. Very frustrating.

Yes, been looking for them, can’t find them.
