What’s New in NumisMaster: February 2026

A look back at standout 2025 coin designs, shifting precious metal markets, and Lunar Year highlights as NumisMaster tracks what’s next for 2026.

As I eagerly await to see what coins mints will produce for 2026, I have looked back at roughly 2,500 issues from 2025. A couple stood out and made me appreciate the process that went into making them. From the beginning stages to the final product, they were just beautiful. My favorite from the year is the “Predator or Prey in Shadow Box” coin (KM# 3567). The superimposed layers give the coin a different view as you move and examine it more closely.

As we have bundled up during these cold days in early 2026 and have attempted to keep our New Year’s resolutions, we at NumisMaster have also been busy updating the latest releases and revisiting 2025 to ensure they are added.

In addition to the coins issued, we are also keeping a close eye on the constant fluctuation of precious metal prices. In December 2025, the price of silver hit a record high of $65 per troy ounce. With this increased demand—which is used in our daily lives like electric vehicles and AI—one would think this record could be broken in 2026, especially as the shortage of silver develops. It also makes you wonder, with the supply and demand for this precious metal, how much of a decline will there be in the production of silver-based coins in the future? According to our U.S. pricing analyst, Richard Giedroyc, we are in unprecedented times with the upsurge in precious metals prices, and it is quite a challenge to all in the business, from dealers to refiners.

As this is the lunar year of the Fire Horse, I have selected a few coins from the 2014 Year of the Horse that are listed on NumisMaster. For more Lunar New Year content, check out my article, “Year of the Fire Horse.
