Will the reverse proof half dollar error be worth $1,000 by Christmas?
Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.
I had ordered three reverse proof sets but hadn’t opened the box until I read the story in your email. One of my three is the off-finish variety.
Thanks for bringing it up! My three sets were ordered within the first two minutes of sales, so they were interspersed from the very beginning of the inventory pile.

Anything is possible. I have seen many things happen in a short time. Again, be cautious. Be minimal when speculating. After all, a person can lose money as fast as gain it.
Yes, even me in my younger years. My suggestion: be on the cautious side!

It certainly depends on how many more are determined to be errors.
Error finishes shouldn’t be categorized in the same realm as, say, doubled dies or other goof-ups by the U.S. Mint.
If Numismatic Guaranty Corporation refuses to add die rotation errors by the Mint to be included in strike character assignments, then why bother with a slightly noticeable finish problem?
