Do you think the new George Rogers Clark quarter design is the best one this year?

Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.

Yes, the design for this issued quarter is beautiful. It is one of the most detailed in artistry in the last 30 years. I would even go as far as to state that it is as detailed as worldwide postage. Kudos for this choice!

2017 was a good numismatic year for me. If I had to rate the five new quarters from the least impressive to the best it would be Effigy, Ozark, Douglass, Ellis and, yes, Rogers would be my most liked. Enjoy the season and look ahead to a great 2018 collecting year. By the way, I was in Europe and I never had a problem with their one and two dollar coins.

While 2017 did have a couple of dogs, Effigy Mounds at the top of that list, the Ozark Riverways was the best in my book with the George Rogers Clark a very close second. It really was just a bit too busy of a design for a quarter, and the details only came out and looked good when enlarged to the size of the 5-ounce ATB.

No, as I am slightly biased to the New Jersey Ellis Island quarter dollar coin, but really the better design is the Missouri Ozarks Riverways.

Really a dynamic quarter. Figures look as if they are actually moving. Much better than the usual bland boring design. Keep it up!

I believe it’s a tie with Ellis Island.
