In a press release from Numismatic Guaranty Corporation®, we have learned that Wayne Miller has agreed to come on board to hand-sign NGC labels. He is known for his groundbreaking work on Silver dollars.
The label he will sign features an image of his book, The Morgan and Peace DollarTextbook, which was first published in 1983. He also wrote An Analysis of Morgan and Peace Dollars, which was first published in 1976.
His expertise and passion for his study of coins led to a personal collection of Morgan and Peace dollars that was widely regarded as "the finest of its kind." Assembled over the course of 16 years, it included every business strike in the Morgan and Peace dollar series, plus every known Proof from all the U.S. Mint branches. He sold it in 1968 for a then-record price of $1.2 million. He used half of his proceeds to open a homeless shelter in his residential area Helena, Montana.
Now, he continues to run Wayne Miller Coins in Helena with his son. The business also buys and sells coins online.
Grading Finalizer Mark Salzberg from NGC terms him "the king of Silver dollars," and regards him as "a true visionary [who] recognized the rarity and value of Prooflike and Deep Prooflike silver dollars long before anyone else."
