In recent years, several central banks have begun issuing commemorative bank notes to welcome each new lunar year. The latest to do so is Mongolbank [Bank of Mongolia].
In September, it released a 70x150mm 100 togrog to mark the Year of the Dog. Each note has been printed on 5 g of silver foil. The back portrays a Mongol Bankhar, a mastiff formerly kept by the nomadic herders. The total printed is 5,000.
The note is available through Liechtenstein’s Coin Invest Trust, who has been supplying Mongolia’s lunar coins for a number of years.
