This year, the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates the 30th birthday of its one-ounce .9999 fine Silver Maple Leaf bullion coin. More than 200 million have been sold by the Mint since the coin’s introduction in 1988.
To mark this milestone, the Mint has issued two special 30th anniversary versions. In one, the reverse design shows the signature maple leaf intertwined with the numeral “30.” The other features incuse engravings of both the maple leaf reverse and Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy on the obverse.
Like the bullion coin itself, both anniversary coins are machine finished with an array of machined radial lines across their fields, while their reverses bear the now-standard micro-engraved security maple leaf mark which contains the year date “18.”
Both coins are denominated as $5 face and are available as singles or in a 500-coin monster box.
