What’s New in Bank Notes – June 2025
A selection of the latest released bank notes issues.
Libya
The Central Bank of Libya intertwines history with contemporary for the new Libyan 20 dinar bank note. The De La Rue-designed and printed polymer note features a portrait of Libyan revolutionary Omar Al-Muktar with high-tech security features such as holographic stripes and dual clear windows. This note is one of three new issues (5, 10, and 20 Libyan dinars) released in 2025 by the Central Bank of Libya.
Cape Verde
At first glance, the new 1,000- and 2,000-escudo bank notes from the Banco de Cabo Verde may appear the same as its 2015 predecessors. However, upon closer inspection, the notes, which depict funaná musician Codé di Dona on the 1,000 and morna singer Cesária Évora on the 2,000, are equipped with new security features.
Thailand
The Bank of Thailand’s new commemorative note is a celebration. The pink colored 100-baht note was created to honor the 150th anniversary of the Ministry of Finance. Although similar to the 100 baht in appearance, this new note differs in that a red legend commemorating the anniversary and the date “April 14, 2025,” is placed in the bottom middle of the face.
