Do you plan to buy more bullion coins produced by the U.S. Mint this year?

Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.

I do not intend to buy anything from the U.S. Mint ever again. There is already plenty out there to keep me busy for the rest of my earthly life.

I do plan to buy silver bullion this year but not from the Mint. I buy a little bit every year to hang onto and build up my hard assets. I will buy a mint set of silver Eagles because I can’t help myself. They are very attractive and I buy them every year. I don’t think I’ll ever make money from them. If I could afford to buy gold I would. Maybe someday. Keep up the good work. I enjoy your writings and the NN.

No. Between what series I collect already on an annual basis , throw in all the commem’s, and one or two “special offerings” and I don’t have anything left to spend on bullion.

When I started out collecting silver or gold coins, they came from individuals. Then I found several dealers/individuals online that had cheaper prices and I knew better not to put myself in danger of not buying real bullion.

Well, I discovered the U.S. Mint. I started buying my silver and gold coins and saved myself a lot of money that was paying overhead to someone else. I soon noticed that my collection of silver coins and gold coins was increasing and I was having money left in my budget that I had developed and set aside when I first started out dealing with individuals.

I have already spent $2,500 at the Mint so far this year and plan to double or triple that amount this year. There are very few dealers/companies that can give you the sense of security of knowing that the metal you bought is real. And they have good refund polices, plus low shipping rates.

I have never questioned my buys from the Mint and the three other online dealers due to refund polices and the trust I have built with them for coins not sold by the Mint. I have in the past before I went to the Mint, paid way to much and for a lower grade of coin. I suggest that others who have gone through what I did and do not know their dealers to try the U.S. Mint.
