World’s Fair of Money a Resounding Success
Coin lovers packed Oklahoma City for the ANA’s World’s Fair of Money, where rare finds, new releases, and the 2025 COTY Awards made headlines.
This year, coin enthusiasts from around the country, and even around the world, congregated in Oklahoma City for the annual American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money.

The bourse was bustling, and dealer booths were busy. There was plenty to do and see, including famous figures Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln!
Throughout the week, show-goers enjoyed a busy schedule of events, from lecture series and Money Talks forums to coin club meetings and award banquets.

The bourse boasted tables with rare finds and new issues, and the U.S. Mint released multiple new coins, which resulted in a long line leading from their booth for most of the show. The other world mint displays didn’t disappoint either, with marvelous modern collectibles that stirred the imagination on the endless possibilities in coinage.
The staff at Numismatic News and sister publication World Coin News kept their eyes out for any 2025-dated coins that they might see in next year’s Coin of the Year nominations list.

In conjunction with the show, this year’s Coin of the Year (COTY) ceremony was held on Thursday, August 21. The event honored the best-of-the-best in coin design and innovation for 2024-dated coins.
The ceremony started with speeches made by Active Interest Media’s Corinne Zielke, ANA President Tom Uram, COTY Nominating Committee member and enthusiast Donald Scarinci, and Journal of East Asian Numismatics publisher Michael Chou, who also presented the first award for the Most Historically Significant category.
