WINGS sets the bar for world coins
For Florida-based WINGS, it’s all about setting the bar for premium quality in graded world coins.
For Florida-based WINGS, it’s all about setting the bar for premium quality in graded world coins.
“We review only slabbed world coins to determine if the coin is a premium quality coin for the grade assigned to it by one of the four major grading companies,” said Larry F. Michelson, who is co-president of the company with Lance Tchor.
“If the coin meets our stringent standards, then WINGS shall affix ‘The Gold Sticker’ to the holder,” Michelson said.
Tchor is the finalizer on the stickering process, while Michelson is responsible for the administration of the business. Tchor has been a full-time rare coin dealer and world coin expert since 1977. He currently has four sets rated No. 1 in the NGC Registry.
Michelson is a tax attorney and CPA.
The company held a grand opening kickoff at the Florida United Numismatists convention in Orlando in January and plans to be present at all major shows throughout the year.
“Our goal is to get collectors and dealers familiar with the name, let them see what we do and let them gain trust in ‘The Gold Sticker,’” Michelson said.
He said it’s gratifying to see how many top-notch people in the industry are embracing the WINGS concept and acknowledging the expertise that Tchor brings to the company.
“We won’t play games; we’re in this for the long haul,” Michelson said. We will only sticker premium quality coins. There is no favoritism. I own many coins that aren’t going to get the WINGS sticker.”
And if there is any doubt as to whether a slabbed coin should be stickered, “then the answer is no,” Michelson said. “It doesn’t get a sticker.”
Collectors may submit slabbed coins, medals or tokens directly to the company. The cost is $12.50 for coins with a declared value up to $9,999 and $25 for coins valued at $10,000 or more.
For one month, the company is offering its service free to collectors who may submit up to 20 coins, tokens or medals.
WINGS has already received support from several major coin dealers, Michelson said.
“They have the foresight to see where this will lead and want to get in on the ground floor,” he said.
Contact WINGS at (855) 339-4647, or visit wingscoins.com for more information.
“We hope dealers over time come to realize that these coins are really premium quality for the grade,” Michelson said.
