A total of 58 lots will be offered in “The Perfection Collection of DMPL/Prooflike Morgan Dollars” during Heritage Auctions’ Platinum Night on April 25 at 6 p.m. at the Central States Numismatic Society Show in Schaumburg, Illinois.
Among the featured lots is an 1895-S $1 MS66+ Prooflike PCGS. CAC. Due to factors like rough storage and handling, improper counting devices used, excessive bag marks and severe surface abrasions, an 1895-S in a high grade is quite attractive to collectors of the Morgan dollar series. The minimum bid for this lot (#3802) is set at $80,000.
A rare 1901 Morgan silver dollar in MS64 PCGS has the minimum bid set at $40,000. In checking online at www.ha.com, there are currently seventeen bidders and forty-two others tracking the lot’s activity. Heritage recommends that bidders consider that while most Mint State 1901 dollars are generally poorly struck, only one or two bag marks are visible on each sight of this coin, which is highly lustrous, fully brilliant and most attractive.
With a deep mirror prooflike finish, this 1891-O Morgan Dollar in MS65 PCGS, remains one of only two MS65 Deep Mirror Prooflike examples known to PCGS, with none finer (1/19). With three days of online bidding still open, this lot is currently at $26,000.
