Heritage’s upcoming Central States World Coins Signature Auction, scheduled for Apr. 25-30, will be loaded with outstanding material, with an especially strong selection of British coins.
One of the featured offerings in the sale will be The Lake Country Collection, a privately assembled group of nearly 300 coins, mostly British.
The Lake Country Collection contains a wide variety of types, including coins dating as far back as the Viking era, such as a penny of Æthelred II (978-1016), graded MS63 by NGC. It is also particularly strong in issues of George III and Victoria, with virtually all monarchs from Henry VIII to the present day represented.
Some of the best coins in this collection are proofs, including a 1746 half crown, PR63 PCGS; an 1821 half sovereign, PR64 NGC; an 1839 crown, PR63 NGC; an 1853 half sovereign, PR64 Deep Cameo PCGS; and many others.
The collection also includes patterns, such as the ND (1820) proof pattern crown of George III, PR64 NGC, engraved by Pistrucci with what the artist himself regarded as his finest portrait of George III.
This auction will open for bidding on or about April 1, but lots may presently be previewed online at coins.HA.com.
More lots are still to be added, so check often for the newest material.
