The 2022 Limited Edition silver proof set, consisting of a total of 2.473 ounces of silver, will become available for purchase from the U.S. Mint Oct. 26.
Each coin in the set has what the Mint calls “a brilliant proof finish enabling mirror-like backgrounds and frosted foregrounds, giving them a special cameo effect.” The coins receive the highest quality strikes possible, according to the Mint, and are distinguished by their sharpness of detail.
Of note is that the set contains all five of the 2022 American Women silver proof quarters, those honoring:
Maya Angelou: celebrated author, performer, and social activist
Dr. Sally Ride: physicist and first American woman in space
Wilma Mankiller: first woman to be Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation
Nina Otero-Warren: a leader in New Mexico’s suffrage movement
Anna May Wong: first Chinese-American film star in Hollywood
Also included is an American Eagle 2-ounce silver proof coin, a Kennedy half dollar and a Roosevelt time. All of the coins were produced at the San Francisco facility.
The coins are placed in presentation lenses to showcase and preserve their finish. The set is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. It is priced at $201. The product limit is set at 50,000, and there is a household order limit of one.
