A “fully original” Atlanta 1928 $5,000 Federal Reserve Note, Fr. 2220-F, went for $129,250 as part of the Stack's Bowers Official U.S. Currency Auction at the ANA’s World’s Fair of Money. The sale was held Aug. 2 at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

This 1928 $5,000 Federal Reserve Note led all lots in the Stack’s Bowers sale at the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money in Denver on Aug. 2.

The PCGS Very Fine 30PPQ-graded note was described as, “beautifully centered with robust margins at all sides making an excellent frame to the powerful design.”

Total for the Stack's Bowers sale was $2,300,756. All prices include the buyer’s premium.

Selling for $76,375 was a newly discovered Boston 1918 $1,000 Federal Reserve Note, Fr. 1133-A, said to be the “single finest graded by either service,” in PCGS Extremely Fine 40PPQ. It is just the fifth-known note for the catalog number.

A Serial No. 1 1882 Brown Back $10 on The American National Bank of Deadwood, S.D., charter 4983, Fr. 487, went for $64,625.

• Confederate Currency 1861 $5, T-31, PCGS Choice About New 58, $30,550.

• 1882 $50 Gold Certificate, Fr. 1192, PMG Very Fine 30, $28,200.

• 1928 $500 Federal Reserve Note, Fr. 2200-Ldgs, PMG Gem Uncirculated 66EPQ, $25,850.

• 1875 $100 Legal Tender Note, Fr. 169, PMG Very Fine 25 Net. Repaired, Minor Rust, $24,675.

• 1886 $5 Silver Certificate, Fr. 263, PCGS Gem New 66PPQ, $22,325.
