Will you be a buyer of the 2016 Liberty silver medals?

Here are some answers sent from our e-newsletter readers to Editor Dave Harper.

2016-W silver proofAmerican Liberty medal.

It all depends upon cost and availability. I will not buy if the tariff is too much above spot. American silver Eagle sets the mark and a tube will be bought if the prices are in line. Your poll should include “Maybe.”

I am undecided on whether to purchase the new 2016 Liberty silver medal. I need to do some more research on this offering. I purchase many graded American silver Eagles each year and I need to see the value in these new items that could be taking my hobby money. It looks like I need to gather more information on this new product.

I would be tempted to buy the Liberty medal, but I would have to pass. The U.S. Mint seems to be running out of gimmicks. Perhaps what they should be doing is updating and raising the quality of our coinage. The Mint’s continued commemorative program is being used to support outside interests at the expense of the collector. One cent, nickel, dime, quarter, $1 and $2 coins are the way to go. Dump the half dollar and let’s make coins that can be circulated.

Yes! Why? Because the design is great. Normally I do not like the coin designs that the CCAC comes up with and they have been irritating with the garbage they have been shoving in our faces. But, Gary Marks’ comments on this medal and the future of Miss Liberty on future coins is inspiring. I hope he and his committee stick to their promises.

This is great and I can’t believe it is actually happening. Hurray for the collector. Loved the design on the gold coin but couldn’t afford it. I will definitely be purchasing.

Yes, I will get one or two. This will be in the future when things are a bit more stable for me. Not sure where I’ll end up, but back in the States again for sure.

Not at this time.

No, I will not be purchasing those medals. I’m a collector of coins – not medals.

I would love to have a proof Liberty silver medal. It depends on how much the Mint wants to gouge the buyers. It would have been better if they had monetized it.

Yes I would purchase both the “S” and “W” mint of the medal. Being a dealer, I need to supply all my collectors.
