This week was a little bit like watching an ace baseball pitcher throw a perfect game. It’s significant. It’s history. Those in the stands know it is a milestone, even if it can be predictably dull to watch as it happens unless they like to do their own scoring. Gold American Eagles and Buffalo coin sales are up as are silver American Eagles. Nothing new there to distinguish this week from last week or the week before.
The Boy Scout proof silver dollars have still not quite sold out. There are 2,820 left to go.
The America the Beautiful program feels a lot like the 12th year of the state quarter program. Who wants to take a swing at it? It will be a while before any relative rarities manifest themselves in the sales numbers.
But behind the scenes, collectors are analyzing these figures and wondering if the next game will be a slug fest as they scramble to acquire offerings before they go off sale permanently.
