Say nice things about the Disabled Veterans dollar and what happens? It goes to sleep the following week. Only 910 proof and 281 uncirculated pieces were sold, hardly 20 percent of the number posted the week before. All I can say, I guess, is “Sweet Dreams.”
July bullion coin sales have started, but it seems to me that readers are better served this week by finishing off the June numbers so everybody can see clearly what sales are like at the halfway point in the year.
In the first two days of sales in July, another 20,000 one-ounce gold American Eagles were sold, but no fractional ounce gold Eagles were taken by buyers. For the silver American Eagle bullion coin, buyers grabbed 387,000 in the first two days.
The Buffalo bullion coin saw initial July sales at 1,000 coins.
And speaking of going to sleep, the proof Buffalo seems to be getting drowsy. Sales dropped to just 798 coins to bring the cumulative number to 21,857.
