Strange things occurred in the numbers this week. There was no change in the total of proof silver American Eagles sold.

The proof half-ounce gold American Eagle sales total rose by just 35 to 10,166 and it is no longer offered for sale on the Mint’s Web site despite being almost 5,000 below the previously announced maximum of 15,000.

Are the other gold proofs about to go off sale as well? It pays to keep checking. The quarter-ounce proof gold sales number rose by 185 while larger gains of 854 in the tenth-ounce size and 1,181 in the four-coin set were registered.

The proof American Buffalo gold had a good week, rising by 1,002 pieces to 43,431.

The December bullion Eagle sales numbers hardly budged, but at least some of all sizes have now been sold. The 2011 bullion Eagles will become available on the first business day of 2011. Will there be any 2010s left? We’ll see.
