Sets Continue Upward Climb
Again this week, there are no new U.S. Mint product releases to speak of, but with the turn of the calendar to August, we have new monthly totals for the American Eagle bullion coinage through Aug. 10.
Gold Buffalo bullion coins posted a total of 6,500, bringing the year-to-date total to 305,500. Gold Eagles saw especially strong sales in the 1- and 1/10-ounce versions with 21,000 and 15,000, respectively, so far this month and 706,500 and 540,000, respectively, year to date.
The silver Eagle came in at 408,000 while the platinum version is on the board with 1,000. Silver is nearing the 12-million mark for the year thus far.
Speaking of precious metal coins, collectors will have the chance to snag the 2022 1-ounce reverse proof palladium American Eagle coin when it debuts on Sept. 8.
In the set sector, we see some decent climbs as the 2022 clad proof set went from 299,681 last week to 307,382 this week for an increase of 7,701. The silver proof and uncirculated sets each posted more modest gains of 2,564 and 2,092, respectively.
Another increase worth mentioning is the 2022-W uncirculated American Eagle. It went from 152,121 to 154,368, for a jump of 2,247 this week.
