The 2014 proof silver Eagle is just not feeling the love.
After a rush to buy in its first few days on sale, interest has slowed to a trickle.
Collectors immediately grabbed over 307,000 coins, but the following week sales dropped off to just 20,540 and last week sales rallied slightly to 27,189. It’ll be interesting to see what the next few weeks bring.
New to the listings this week are numbers for Warren G. Harding bags, rolls and boxes that went on sale Feb. 6. It is the first of the 2014 Presidential dollars. Sales of 25-count rolls totaled 50,561, with $100 bags numbering 1,794 and $250 boxes at 4,145. There will no longer be $500 boxes available.
Sale of the 2014 Presidential $1 coin proof set was to begin at noon Feb. 18. The set is priced at $18.95 and contains four proof quality Presidential $1 coins featuring the portraits of Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
