The first three months of the year saw a flurry of activity, both in U.S. Mint product releases and sales figures. April is here, and, if this week’s sales figures tell us anything, it’s that the second quarter of 2021 is off to a quiet start.

A sales number of note – perhaps the only one this week – is the 2021 clad proof set. Its total comes in at 219,576, a decent 6 percent gain over the 206,542 total posted two weeks ago.

By the time you read this, the 2021 America the Beautiful uncirculated 5-ounce silver coin honoring Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site will have been released, marking the end of the 5-ounce silver ATB quarter run. We will be keeping an eye on the pace at which these coins sell. Will collectors be spurred by the desire to complete their collection? Will the five ounces of silver the coin contains pique the interest of those who might not otherwise collect?

Speaking of silver, another exciting release is on the horizon. The 2021 silver proof set makes its debut April 22. Another collector favorite, it will be fun to watch those sales numbers climb.
