Proof Set Sales Healthy
Let’s talk big movers this week. The 2022 proof sets made impressive gains since last week’s report. The clad proof set is our top performer with an increase of 12,710 over last week’s sales total. That brings its overall total to 286,950. The silver proof set jumped 6,483 to get to this week’s total of 176,315.
On the other end of the spectrum, we also had a big loser this week. Sales of the 2022-W uncirculated silver American Eagle coin fell dramatically by 3,391 to its current total of 150,148. We will keep a close eye on how it performs from here.
The big headline in new releases is the latest uncirculated coin set, made up of 20 2022-dated coins. Since its debut on July 12, the set has garnered 164,710 in sales. Nothing to sneeze at, given its availability of just five days at the time of this report.
The latest installment in the Armed Forces silver medal program became available July 15. The 2.5-ounce medal honoring the Marine Corps has sold 9,398 pieces since its release, according to the Mint’s latest tally.
This week we see a nice jump in gold bullion Buffalo coins and 1- and 1/2-ounce American Eagles. Silver Eagles are on the board for the first time in July with 425,000.
