I have temporarily moved Sacagawea dollar roll and bag numbers off this page to make room for Van Buren dollars. Gold and silver bullion American Eagle numbers jumped again.
The first sales numbers for U.S. Army commemoratives hit the boards below. It looks like the silver dollar gets the title of most popular for this report.
Van Buren roll and bag numbers are starting to come in. The problem is where to put them. Perhaps after the Mint’s Last Chance Sale there will be more room on this page.
I have been saying nice things about the demand for Presidential dollar coins this year. This week I have to point out that minuses swept through the columns of roll and bag listings as if the inventory of an entire business had been returned to the Mint.
So it snowed and snowed in Washington, D.C., as this column was prepared. In fact, it snowed so much that the Mint’s offices were shut down for three consecutive days and looked like possibly a fourth as this issue was going to press. What to do?
A few more modest changes have been made to this page to make it of continuing use to readers. More will be made in coming weeks.
The 2009 Ultra High Relief Saint-Gaudens $20 gold piece debuts on this page at right. Most noticeable is how little sales have risen since more than 40,000 were snapped up in the first four days of sales.
If there was just one statistic on this page and it was the Formative Years two-roll Lincoln cent set, that would probably satisfy the vast majority of readers.
