Mint Stats: Uncirculated gold Eagle makes big jump

Sales of uncirculated 2013-W gold American Eagles leaped 18 percent in just one week.

Sales of uncirculated 2013-W gold American Eagles leaped 18 percent in just one week. Admittedly, though, the coin started from a small base. The increase was 1,035 coins, bringing the running total for the year to 6,765.

Proof 2013-W gold Buffalo coins had a strong showing, rising by 554 to 16,400.

Perhaps renewed interest in gold and gold bullion Eagles in recent days has spilled over to the collector coins.

Standard clad proof sets were up by 13,343 to 594,593 while the silver proof set rose by 6,842 to 333,547.

Rolls and bags of Woodrow Wilson Presidential dollars have gone on sale and they appear on the page at right. Roll totals in just the first few days indicate strong demand. They have reached almost 60 percent of the sales level of Theodore Roosevelt rolls and almost 67 percent of the level of the William Howard Taft rolls.

Wilson was the President who led the country in World War I and perhaps that significance is motivating collector buyers.
