Mint Stats: Summer coin buyers seem to snooze
Wake me up when July is over. After adding one coin here and subtracting three there, it felt like very little was accomplished by the Mint in terms of additional sales this week.
Wake me up when July is over. After adding one coin here and subtracting three there, it felt like very little was accomplished by the Mint in terms of additional sales this week.
Last week sales of the 2013-W uncirculated silver American Eagle collector coin went down by 7,262 to 115,304. This week the Mint added 1,339 to bring the running tally to 116,643. By the end of the month sales might be about where we thought they were at the end of June.
Bullion Eagles were nudged higher. The numbers are nothing to write home about. With two-thirds of the month yet to go, gold totals are such that the month could be either up or down compared to June.
But bullion Eagle numbers are downright exciting compared to the small changes in the numbers of commemoratives sold. The sold-out three-coin 5-Star General proof set finally stopped being adjusted and now sits at 9,973 for the second week in a row.
