Mint Stats: No fireworks in bullion sales numbers

The month of January was not quite finished as this issue went to press. January gold bullion sales numbers hardly budged in the past week.

The month of January was not quite finished as this issue went to press. January gold bullion sales numbers hardly budged in the past week. The star was the 10,000 increase in the tenth-ounce sales number. The silver American Eagle bullion coin stands at just over 4.7 million. The Buffalo gold number actually went backwards. It stands at 39,500 pieces.

The Civil Rights silver dollar has taken its place in the commemorative box below. The latest figures are 33,855 proofs and 13,681 uncirculated coins. I have also made space for the National Baseball Hall of Fame coins. I expect there will be some set combinations that will be added when sales begin, but there is still no firm date for that.

Silver proof sets have joined the five-quarter sets for 2014. It is interesting as the first reported sales total of the silver set is nearly equal to the quarter set. That is a demonstration that silver sells. The proof silver Eagle starts at 307,378.
