Mint Stats: Demand for clad ‘S’ continues
Demand for bags and rolls of uncirculated S-mint El Yunque clad quarters have pushed the total number of coins sold to over 1 million.
Demand for bags and rolls of uncirculated S-mint El Yunque clad quarters have pushed the total number of coins sold to over 1 million.
The latest numbers show collectors have purchased 1,016,760 of the quarters, up from 815,680 last week. The breakdown of demand saw the total for bags of 100 coins rise by 1,440 to 6,434 and rolls of 40 coins saw their numbers increase by 1,427 to 9,334.
Demand for bullion coins made of gold or silver crawled ahead. Buyers took another 6,000 1-ounce gold American Eagles, bringing the running July total to 8,000 and the running 2012 total to 293,000.
Demand for silver American Eagle bullion coins pushed higher by 485,500, bringing the July running tally to 755,000 and the 2012 running total to 18,147,000.
Demand for the 5-ounce bullion coins is even slower. The El Yunque total rose by 400 to 10,400 and the Chaco number increased by 1,800 to 5,000. Chaco collector coin sales just started and initial numbers will be on hand here next week.
As mail orders are still being processed, the total for the two-coin “S” silver American Eagle proof set is 251,302.
