Proof 2012-W silver American Eagles sales set the pace this week. Buyers nabbed another 41,853 pieces to bring the running total to 701,291. It is no secret that collectors prefer proofs to uncirculated versions of the same coin. This week’s tallies demonstrate this in spades. The 2012-W uncirculated silver Eagle sales rose by less than one-tenth the number achieved by the proofs at 3,909. This brings the running total to 140,073. Overall, buyers have preferred proofs by 5-1 since both sales options became available.
