Bullion coin sales begin strongly as the year starts. Take a look at the 2011 aggregate totals in the column at the far right. They have been revised and some 2010 coin numbers sold in early 2011 have been backed out, so the data now should tell you how many coins with the 2011 date were produced in 2011. Running totals for 2012 will replace them in a couple of weeks, so clip these numbers out now.
In the meantime, January bullion coin numbers appear in the usual monthly box below. It is too soon to tell if the 2012 monthly numbers will exceed those of 2011. The Mint is not rationing supply. It is confident it can meet demand.
Sales of the 5-ounce bullion coins creep along. The 2010 Mount Hood collector coin has nearly reached 27,000 while the three available 2011 collector designs are nowhere near sold out. The three 2011 bullion versions still available each rose by 500 pieces, which is not exactly a run on the available supply.
Unavailable 2010 sets are asterisked.
