What do you know? When the Mint put the World War I coin and medal sets back on sale, the results have actually been positive. Even the commemorative dollars sold individually showed a little spark of life.

The Army medal set rose by 1,185 to reach 15,080. The Air medal gained 971 to reach 11,979. Navy added 969 to 11,809, Marines are up 1,037 to 12,088 and the Coast Guard rose by 748 to 9,003. Those numbers are significant.

The individual World War I proof dollar added 1,116. The running tally is now 53,162. The uncirculated inched ahead by 290 to 19,359.

First-day sales for the proof 2018-S proof silver American Eagle were 52,494. There is no order limit or maximum mintage. The coins were available also at the Mint booth at the ANA convention in Philadelphia.

Bullion isn’t showing much life. Prices have plunged this week.
