Mint Statistics: Newly released silver proofs beat clad
Silver proof sets of 2017 moved ahead by 14,358 to reach 189,082. The performance was good enough to beat the increase in the clad proof set number. It rose 8,922 to 285,471. This is logical as it is only the second week that the silver set has been available. Neither number is particularly impressive when compared to last year’s sets, which incidentally are still on sale.
But if you are looking for impressive, don’t look at the 2017 uncircualated coin set this week. Its total actually declined by 4,002. It currently stands at 153,879.
Another backward move was accomplished by the 2017 uncirculated gold American Eagle. Shaved by 19 pieces, the total is now 2,061.
Proof silver 2017 American Eagle coins rose by 3,953 to reach 275,559.
Bullion silver Eagles advanced by 272,000, but the June monthly running tally at 706,000 is still some distance from 1 million.
