May gold Eagle bullion coin sales stand at roughly half of the January levels. However, the important thing to remember is that the May totals are greater than February, March and April’s combined. Does this spell revival of interest in gold bullion coins? Throw in growing demand for the gold Buffalo in May and it just might.

On the other hand, sales of silver Eagle bullion coins have not budged since last week. With one day left in the month, sales stand at 380,000 coins.

Initial sales of the 2018-W uncirculated collector silver American Eagle hit the board below at 89,482. As those were being recorded, the tally for the 2017-W uncirculated silver Eagle added 22,196 to reach 174,773. That’s a big number for last year’s issue.

Proof sets were a little strange. The clad 2018 proof set rose by 5,403 to 234,857, but the number for the silver proof set dropped by 10,786 to 168,789. That’s more than a rounding error.
