In the opening days of April the Mint sold 255,000 silver American Eagle bullion coins, a figure that is nothing to write home about. Complete March figures are below, as well as the numbers for 2017 through April 5.
For gold, the March numbers appear first below, and the running tally is further down the page. April began with sales of 1,500 one-ounce, no half-ounce, 2,000 quarter-ounce and 5,000 tenth-ounce gold Eagles.
For gold Buffaloes, buyers took 1,000 in early April.
Sellout of the 75,000 2017 Congratulations Sets is also noted. The 2017-S silver proof Eagle in the set excited buyers. More of the 2017-S silver proofs will become available later this year in the Limited Edition Silver Proof Set.
The sales pace of the 2017-W proof silver Eagle slowed to 13,733. Buyers even took 1,940 of the 2016 proof silver Eagles.
