If you think some numbers are going backward, you are right. They are. Various items were reduced since the last time this column was published two weeks ago. Perhaps the most interesting is the 6,739 drop in the total of 2017 silver proof sets. This took the total below the 200,000 level back to 195,713.
Other drops were not quite so severe. The 2016-W uncirculated silver Eagle remained above the 200,000 level after its haircut this week. The 2017-W uncirculated silver Eagle advanced by 6,661 to 117,885. The 2017-W proof silver Eagle rose by 5,378 to 288,007.
Buyers of 2017-W proof platinum Eagles have pushed sales to 8,044. The maximum is 10,000. We cannot rule out a sellout being achieved even if it wasn’t on the first day.
The five-ounce unicirculated Ozark Riverways silver coin makes its appearance at 13,740. This is the third of five designs for the year.
