Sales of roll sets of the last two 2009 Lincoln cents creep along. In the last two weeks, the number of Professional Life roll sets sold was 2,235. The Presidency roll set number was more than double that at 5,264. Are the latter still being purchased by collectors who haven’t quite gotten around to it, or is there a dawning realization that the Presidency design is the scarce one of the four 2009 designs? It could be a bit of both.

Collectors are anxious to begin buying roll sets of the 2010 Lincoln cent design with the Union Shield on the reverse, but all the Mint will say is they will become available at some point in the month of March.

The Mint has sold 50,000 one-ounce American Eagle gold coins so far in February and it still has 17,000 of the 2009-dated coins left. Gold coin buyers are required to take one 2009 for every three 2010 coins they purchase. So far 135,000 one-ounce coins have been sold this year, of which 34,000 are 2009.
