Gold highs fuel Eagle demand

With gold playing with a record price of $1,300, buyers of gold American Eagles are reviving and buying more. A total of 24,000 more of the one-ounce coins were taken in the last reporting period. Silver Eagle demand jumped to 725,000 pieces in the same period, bringing the monthly total to 1,045,000 and the annual total to 24,645,500.
Buffalo proof gold demand woke up again, up 1,301 pieces, or roughly twice last week’s demand, but its bullion coin counterpart is still having a sleepy time, up just 3,500 coins to 7,000 for the month.
Sales of James Buchanan First Spouse coins with the Coronet Head Liberty have now reach sales levels roughly matching Sara Polk.
The proof version of the Vet dollar spurted ahead by 2,173 while the unc. version crawled by 477. Why? At those low levels one large order can make a difference.
Clad proof set sales rose by 31,781.
