The U.S. Mint’s Comic Art Coin and Medal Program, featuring Superman, will officially launch on July 24.
Included in the initial pieces released will be a half-ounce gold $50 coin, a one-ounce, and a 2.5-ounce silver medal.
The obverse shows Superman soaring above the Kent farm with the sun behind him, symbolizing hope and strength, while the reverse shows a contemplative Clark Kent, with Jonathan Kent, affectionately known as Pa Kent, in the background.
Later in the year, the U.S. Mint is anticipating the release of the next editions of the program, featuring Batman and Wonder Woman.
