Fiji has just announced the striking of its first colored titanium coin, courtesy Pobjoy Mint.
The green 36.10 mm, 10.00 g $1 features a pair of the country’s national bird on the reverse: Collared Lories. Mintage is 7,500.
The same design is available on a 38.60 mm, 28.28 g .925 fine silver $2, which has a mintage of 2,000.
The common obverse features Fiji’s Coat of Arms.
Each green Collared Lory dollar is technically different and varies slightly in color as a result of the differing responses of each titanium flan to each strike during the minting process.
