Viewpoint: Saying Farewell, but not goodbye
In our Feb. 26 issue, longtime editor David C. Harper bid you farewell in his final Class of ’63 column. Dave has retired. Around here, it’s like the old saying many of you have heard, “Elvis has left the building.”
But even though Elvis left the building, his music carried on. We like to think the same with Dave. While he wasn’t a renegade rocker like Elvis, Dave is famous in the same sense when it comes to his expertise and rock star status within the coin collecting community, and he has made an impression on many of us that we carry into the next 40-plus years.
So for this week’s column, we’d like to publicly thank Dave for his four decades of dedication, not just to Krause Publications and F+W Media but to you, our readers. Dave didn’t just report the news, he lived the news – and many times, he made the news!
Dave, because we know you’re reading this, THANK YOU and best wishes in your retirement. We know we will see you here and there on the collecting circuit, because once a collector, always a collector. We’re happy that you will still be a part of our annual Coin of the Year nomination and judging committee, and we hope you’ll be making some “guest appearances” in issues to come.
So, is this farewell? Maybe for now, but certainly not goodbye!
