Sales are going backward for the 2014-W proof gold Kennedy half dollar. On Aug. 17, the Mint reported it sold 63,521. On Aug. 24, the Mint reported that total was now 63,388, a loss of 133.

The step backward is probably due to customers canceling their orders because they won’t receive the coin in time to meet the PCGS First Strike or NGC Early Release label criteria.

On Aug. 19, the Mint released the Harding Presidential $1 Coin and First Spouse Medal set. Buyers purchased 639 of them up to Aug. 24.

The newly released Lou Hoover First Spouse gold coin has sold 693 uncirculated and 1,108 proof coins since its Aug. 14 debut.

Coming off sale were the 2013 Native American dollar 25-coin rolls, with 24,911 Philadelphia rolls and 23,859 Denver rolls sold.
