The big Mint product news this week is commemoratives. Pre-sales of the 2021 commemorative coins – the Christa McAuliffe silver dollar and the National Law Enforcement Memorial and Museum coins – began Jan. 28. (See related story on Page 92).

The McAuliffe silver dollar comes in proof and uncirculated versions. The proof posted sales of 16,647 while the uncirculated totalled 5,868. A combined maximum mintage across both of the dollars is set at 350,000.

The National Law Enforcement Museum coins are available as a gold $5, silver dollar and clad half dollar, all in proof and uncirculated versions. Also available is a three-coin set. The proof silver dollar led the charge of these coins with nearly 9,600 in sales. The proof clad half dollar wasn’t too far behind with 8,406.

A notable addition this week is the 2021-W proof platinum American Eagle with a total of 4,961 since its Feb. 4 release.

Also added is the 2020 American Innovation dollar honoring the state of South Carolina, offered in bags and rolls and as a reverse proof.
