Mint Statistics: Palladium Proof, Innovation $1 Debut

Two new items make their debut on the charts this week, the most notable being the 2021-W proof palladium American Eagle coin.

The 1-ounce coin went on sale Sept. 2, and after three days of sales its total is recorded at 3,817. With a price tag over $3,000, we will be keeping an eye on how quickly the coin reaches its 12,000 maximum mintage.

Also new this week are bags and rolls of the 2021 American Innovation dollar honoring the Erie Canal of New York. The products are performing well. After the first week of sales, total bag sales (5,133) and total roll sales (12,915) have already surpassed the Virginia Innovation dollar, which has been available since July 27.

There is a noticeable drop in sales totals for the 2021 Morgan and Peace silver dollars, the largest of which is the Peace dollar, whose downward adjustment totals 2,620.

September bullion numbers are posted for the first six days of the month. After finishing off August at 27,500, the 2021 gold Buffalo bullion coin is on the board with 8,000 for September. Year-to-date Buffalo sales total 243,500.

As for bullion Eagles, September numbers are posted for 1- and 1/10-ounce gold at 9,500 and 5,000, respectively. Silver started the month at 750,000.
