New sales wave about to begin

This week is the quiet before the big offerings of 2010 and 2011 America the Beautiful 5-ounce silver coins and 2011 proof gold American Eagles. The charts below have been tweaked accordingly. The Mint’s target of initial 2011 ATB bullion coins was raised a bit to 126,500 from the 125,000 indicated as the tables were first prepared.

The 2011 gold American Eagle sales maximums have been put into place. Next week sales figures will begin. The 2010 American Eagle sales numbers have been removed. Keep last week’s paper if the 2010 numbers are important to you.

Overall sales increases were on the low side this week, even for bullion coin offerings.

The 2011 Buffalo one-ounce gold coin rose by 8,500 to 11,500 for April and to 49,500 since sales began this year.

Another 11,000 one-ounce gold American Eagles were purchased by investors for an April total of 49,500.
